HOW TO USE IT
Apply it in water, not as a dry dust. Safer, and it actually sticks. Here’s the mix.
The mix (per gallon)
2–3 oz micronized sulfur + 3 oz diatomaceous earth (DE) + optional 1–2 oz Castile soap. Shake well before and during spraying.
Where to spray
Tops and undersides of leaves, stems, branch joints, and anywhere pests cluster. Full coverage is everything.
When to spray
Early morning or evening, out of direct sun, below ~85°F. Never in the heat of the day.
How often
Reapply as needed to stay ahead of pests and mildew. The earlier you start, the less you’ll need.

What does micronized sulfur actually do?
Two big jobs in one mineral. It’s a time-tested control for fungal diseases — powdery mildew, rust, scab, brown rot — and it also knocks back mites like spider mites and rust mites. A fungicide and a miticide in a single bottle.
“Micronized” just means it’s ground ultra-fine, so it blends into water and coats leaves evenly instead of clumping like old-fashioned sulfur dust.
How does it work?
Sulfur interferes with the basic metabolism of fungi and mites — it disrupts the cellular processes they need to breathe and grow, so spores can’t establish and mites can’t thrive.
Because it works on several processes at once rather than a single target, it’s a broad, dependable mineral defense rather than a narrow chemical. The micronized grind gives you faster, more even coverage than the sulfur dust of old.
Won’t the fungus or mites become resistant to it?
No — and that’s a big part of its value. Sulfur works on several of a fungus’s or mite’s processes at once, so there’s no single mechanism for them to evolve around.
Chemical fungicides hit one target and breed resistance fast. Sulfur has been used for centuries and still works the same — you won’t be chasing a stronger product every season.
Is it safe for bees and beneficial insects?
Yes — and that matters. Unlike harsh chemical pesticides, sulfur is gentle on bees and the beneficial insects that help your garden. It targets fungi and mites, not your pollinators.

How and when do I apply it?

Why shouldn’t I spray it in the heat?
Because sulfur can stress foliage when it’s hot. In high heat or strong direct sun, it can scorch leaves instead of protecting them.
The fix is simple: spray in the cool of the morning or evening and skip it on the hottest days. Cool and covered, it’s gentle on the plant.
Why can’t I mix it with oil sprays?
Sulfur and horticultural oil don’t get along — used together, or too close in time, they can burn your plants. So keep them apart: leave a clear window between an oil spray and a sulfur spray.
Run one or the other, never both at once.
Why does it smell, and can I use it indoors?
Sulfur has that classic mineral smell. It’s harmless, but it lingers — so this one is for outdoors only. Spray your garden, trees, and beds in the open air.
For indoor plants, reach for a castile soap spray instead — gentler on the nose and just as at home inside.
Can I use it with DE and castile soap?
