Why This Actually Works
Most seedlings don’t die of neglect. They drown, or they choke. Here’s how coir fixes both.
Air and water at the same time. Coir holds moisture like a sponge but stays full of air pockets. Roots get a drink and a breath from the same handful. Peat turns to soup and suffocates. Heavy soil packs down and chokes. Coir does neither.
Built to last — the 80/20. Pure coir breaks down and packs flat in one season. Ours is 20% coarse fiber, so it keeps its open structure and works as a long-term amendment, not a throwaway filler.
Clean from the first watering. Washed to pull the salt out (low EC), then steam-sterilized. No salt burn, no fungus, no weed seeds hitching a ride. Cheap coir skips this. Yours doesn’t.
One brick, a wheelbarrow of medium. It ships as a compact block and expands many times over in water. A huge volume of medium from one light package — easy to store, easy to carry, no heavy bags.
Made from waste, not a bog. Peat is stripped from bogs that take centuries to form. Coir is the husk left after coconuts are processed for food and water — renewable, and otherwise thrown away.
The pro’s base. This is one of the premier ingredients we build our Super Soil on — and the same coir we start our own seedlings in.
That’s the how. Here’s the when.
When Will I See Results
Coir works the moment it’s wet. Here’s what you’ll notice.
Minute one. The brick drinks water and bursts open into light, fluffy medium — many times its packed size. You’ll feel the difference in your hands.
First sprouts. Seeds come up faster and more evenly. Consistent texture means even moisture, and even moisture means an even strike.
First weeks. Seedlings stand up instead of flopping. Roots run white and thick because they’re getting air. Far less damping-off.
Transplant day. Roots slide out clean instead of tearing. Plants barely notice the move.
In the bed, long-term. The fiber keeps the soil open and draining for seasons. Amend once, and it keeps doing its job.
Backed by the same 60-day guarantee. If it doesn’t do what we say, email us once. Every dollar back. No forms. No questions.
What Can I Use It For?
If it grows from a seed or a root, this is the medium for it.
Seed starting. This is where it shines. Airy, clean, and consistent, so seeds germinate evenly and seedlings don’t damp off. Our top pick for trays and plugs.
Cuttings & propagation. Holds moisture around the stem without rotting it. Roots come fast.
Containers & raised beds. Mix it in to keep soil light and draining while it holds water. Essential if you’re building your own DIY mix for larger areas.
Soil amendment. The 20% fiber keeps heavy soil open and sandy soil holding. A long-lasting fix, not a quick one.
DIY soil blends. One of the premier ingredients in our own Super Soil — and the base most serious growers build on.
One job everywhere: an airy, clean, consistent home for roots. That’s what makes everything else work.

Size
10-lbs
You plant the seeds. Half never show. The ones that do get leggy, flop over, and die before they’re ever real plants. It isn’t your green thumb. It’s the medium they’re stuck in — heavy, soggy, suffocating. This is the one that fixes it.
Light, airy, and consistent — the medium roots breathe in. The premier choice for starting seeds and cuttings.
80/20 coir-and-fiber mix: the 20% fiber holds its structure, so it lasts as a real amendment instead of collapsing in a season.
Washed, low-EC, and steam-sterilized. No salt, no pathogens, no weed seeds. Clean from the very first watering.
It’s made from what’s left of the coconut after the food and water are gone — a renewable resource, not a dug-up bog.

Yes. Washed, low-EC, steam-sterilized. Pure coconut husk, nothing added.
Safe for kids, pets, edible gardens, and the most delicate seedlings.
Not in it: no salt buildup, no chemicals, no pathogens, no weed seeds.
Renewable + organic: made from the coconut husk left after the food and water are processed out. EDITME: add OMRI / organic cert if applicable
The honest test: it’s the same coir we start our own seedlings in. If we wouldn’t, we wouldn’t sell it.

HOW TO USE IT
Soak the brick. It expands into a wheelbarrow of medium. Here’s each job.
Expand the brick
Drop the block in a tub and add water — it drinks a lot. In a few minutes it bursts into light, fluffy medium, many times its packed size.
Seeds & cuttings
Use it straight, or 50/50 with your mix. Fill trays, sow, keep damp. Airy and consistent for an even strike.
Pots & raised beds
Mix 20–30% into your soil to keep it light and draining while it holds moisture. For big DIY beds, it’s the bulk base.
Soil amendment
Work a few inches into heavy or sandy soil. The fiber keeps it open and draining for seasons.
EDITME: add yield — “one brick expands to ~X quarts / gallons”
You can’t burn anything with it — it’s an inert medium. More just means a lighter, springier mix.
Best paired with Plant Super Boost (the living microbes) and Crab, Kelp & Amino Acids (the food). Coir is the airy home that holds both — and the base of our Super Soil.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is coco coir, and what’s it best for?
It’s the fiber from coconut husks, cleaned and processed into a light, sponge-like growing medium. It holds water beautifully but stays airy — so roots get moisture and oxygen at the same time, which is the hardest balance to strike in soil.
It’s the premier medium for starting seeds, and a perfect base for building your own potting mix or raised-bed soil. Think of it as the clean, living-friendly canvas you build a great soil on.
Why is it an 80/20 coir and fiber blend?
Most coir is pure fine pith, and over time pure pith packs down dense and chokes off the air roots need. We blend in 20% coarser coconut fiber on purpose.
That fiber props the mix open — more air pockets, better drainage, and a structure that lasts far longer before it compresses. You get the water-holding of coir with staying power that pure pith just can’t match.
Is it ready to use right out of the block, or do I need to rinse it?
Ready to go. Raw, cheap coir can carry natural sea salts that stress tender roots — so ours is thoroughly washed to a low EC and steam-sterilized before it’s ever pressed into a block.
You just add water and plant. No rinsing, no soaking out salt, no nasty surprises on your seedlings.
Do I need to add nutrients to it?
Yes — and that’s by design, not a shortcoming. Coir is a clean, inert medium: it holds water, air, and nutrients beautifully, but it doesn’t carry its own feed. The upside is you control exactly what your plants get.
Pair it with Plant Super Boost for living microbes and Crab, Kelp & Amino Acids to feed, and you’ve built a complete, living mix from the ground up.
How do I expand and use the block?
Easy. Drop the compressed block in a tub, add warm water, and watch it expand to several times its size in a few minutes. Fluff it up and it’s ready to fill trays, pots, or beds.
It ships compact and opens up big — a little brick makes a surprising amount.
How is this different from peat moss?
Coir does the same water-holding job as peat, without the downsides. Peat is stripped from bogs that take thousands of years to form, and once it dries out it turns acidic and stubbornly water-repellent.
Coir is a renewable byproduct of the coconut harvest, holds a neutral pH, and re-wets easily even after it’s gone dry. Better for your plants, and better for the planet.
Will my seedlings get enough air, or does it stay soggy?
This is exactly what the 20% fiber is there for. Coir holds plenty of moisture, but the coarse fiber keeps the mix open so excess water drains and air reaches the roots.
Your seedlings get the steady dampness they love without sitting in a wet, airless sponge — which is the thing that usually rots them.
Why is it so good for starting seeds?
Seeds need three things to come up: steady moisture, air, and a clean medium free of disease. Coir delivers all three at once.
It stays evenly damp without drowning the seed, it’s light enough for delicate roots to push through, and because it’s washed and steam-sterilized, there are no pathogens or weed seeds waiting to wipe out a tray. That’s why it’s our go-to for seed starting.
Can I reuse it?
You can. Coir breaks down slowly, so a batch holds its structure across more than one planting. Refresh it, re-charge it with microbes and a feed, and it’s ready to plant again.
One more reason it outlasts peat — and stretches your dollar further.
Can I use it with my Plant Super Boost and other products?
Absolutely — it’s built for it. Coir is the home; Plant Super Boost brings the living microbes, and Crab, Kelp & Amino Acids brings the food they need.
Start with coir, add the life and the feed, and you’ve made a living soil instead of a dead mix. It’s also the perfect base for building our Super Soil blend.
Is it organic, and what’s it made from?
Just coconut. It’s the husk fiber left over from the coconut harvest — a renewable resource — washed clean, steam-sterilized, and blended 80/20 with coarse fiber.
No peat, no added chemicals, no synthetic wetting agents. A clean, renewable medium you can feel good about putting your seeds in.
